Weaving a Matariki Kite

It is nearly Matariki and the day we make kites so we can fly them up to the sky like a bird and any kind of birds that fly in the sky. How we made the kites is we got a brown paper bag from our teacher and we used a pair of scissors and cut them in half so that they were flat. We had to draw Maori Designs on one. We painted the Maori Designs. The colours were red, white, and black. We had to paint the other one next. The colour I used was yellow. We had to let them dry.

We had to wait for a long time before Mrs Agnew could cut them into 8 strips and ready for weaving. We thought it would be easy but it was NOT! The paper kept on moving around and I kept having to look if it had to go under or over. We all managed in the end. I like mine now.

Torty, the Lucky Tortoise

Why is Torty lucky?. Torty is lucky because she was still alive when she got run over.  Stewart saw her and he went to go get her and when he got her he saw she had lost a shell and her leg was broken. Then they went to New Zealand. Then when they got to New zealand Torty had to go on an adventure. Stewart Tried to find Torty but he could ‘t then Torty was hibernating then he was sleeping in a leaf that almost got fired. The next day Torty got sold to a  circus then a person came and took Torty her name was Beth she took Torty to Napier where she left. Torty’s real owner was Stewart. He died from war and it was sad.

This is my drawing of Torty.

My Sea Creature

We have been looking at marine reserves we chose a sea creature to describe without using its name. This is mine:

My sea creature has not bones

My sea creature has no brain

My sea creature can move his long tail

My sea creature can’t not get out of the water, just floats around
